Ubuntu 12.04 lts installation problem

I have trouble installing Ubuntu 12.04 from my USB drive to my hdd. It will install but when the machine is then warm or cold booted, the computer automatically enters bios and this reoccurs even after exiting the screen. Could this be a software problem? Or perhaps my hdd not being read correctly? The mother board is fine I would assume because in bios, all components are being recognized...except for my hard drive?

Sounds like Grub maybe didn't get installed. Are you getting any messages before you get kicked to BIOS? Have to tried installing again? If so, maybe try a different thumb drive.

I assume you use the word BIOS to refer to the BIOS settings menu? Are you sure its that? That shouldn't happen without pressing some key(usually del).

try reinstalling. If problem persists, try installing from a disc.
