UBS 1 Hub On USB 2.0 card

I have a 4-port external hub I used with my original USB 1.0 card. If I plug it into my USB 2.0 card, will it run at 2.0 speed or just be backward compatible? Aren't the pins the same? Are USB 2.0 hubs just a marketing thing to get you to dump your old one?

Is the hub you have USB2 compatible?
If so, i you use it on a USB2 port in the computer, then it`ll function as a USB2 hub.
But USB1 devices will still be limited to the USB1 spec between it and the hub.
I think, that between the hub and the computer, with a USB1 device, it`ll fuction at USB2 speeds.

Hope this helps.

if it's a 1.1 hub, then any device that plugs into that hub operates at 1.1 speeds. i've tried it. microcenter had a sale on some mini usb 2 hubs, and that's what i am using. i have 3 usb 2 enclosures that i attach to this laptop, and i use the hub for cable management =)

"2 + 2 = 4 +/- 1
why? cuz
2 ranges from 1.5 to 2.49999..."

i looked at that 5 times and i don't get it

Any number between 1.5 & 2.49999...... is classed as a 2.
So if it was 1.5+1.5, you`d get 3
and if it was 2.49+2.49, you`d get 5.
Hence the +/- 1
