Ubisoft wishes me a happy new year..... After waiting months for patch 1.2 for Heroes of Might and Magic VI to correct major game mechanic bugs, I decide to get into playing it again as I didn't wanted to play the campaigns with a broken game. To get extra bonus weapons etc. the game require uplay. No problem...... Except I've tried to to log on to uplay servers since new year with a succes ratio of 1:3 (6 attempts at different days/hours 4 failures)

Ubisoft/EA learn to forget they even make games. Be wary of Activision. Following these two simple rules will save you a lot of headaches.

IIRC Ubisoft should be avoided at all costs due to excessive draconian DRM.

That and they've intentionally misled consumers to make sales. Then they refuse to refund said sales when people discovered they didn't get what was advertised.

By some weird fluke, Ubisoft does occasionally make a good game. It's rare and if you blink, you might miss it. The AC2 trilogy was good. So was From Dust, that is the console version.

It's just their continued antagonism towards PC gamers that really aggravates me. They truly believe we're all pirates and that none of us will pay for a game unless forced to. Their DRM is akin to having Wal-Mart security do a cavity search every time you go, just to make sure you aren't shoplifting.

On top of that, PC versions are always delayed and almost always crippled with some major bug. I remember buying Blazing Angels. The game had a bug where sound wouldn't work with X-FI chips, which were pretty common at the time. Ubisoft released a patch that didn't work, then told gamers to f--- it, they weren't going to try fixing it again. It's such a negative attitude, I wonder how they can remain financially viable being so hostile to paying customers. The icing on the shit sundae is that Ubisoft makes it out like they're doing you a favour by letting you play their games.

HoMM has been one of my favorite series of games, so if I want to play it I have to go Ubisoft. I also like AC so once again Ubisoft. But their QA for sub-contractors seem to be really bad.

There was an interview with Jade Raymond who's the managing director at Ubisoft Toronto. She actually sounds like a cool gamer chick who loves video games.

If I find the video I'll post it later.

They also sponser a professional all-girl CS 1.6 clan. They're trying to break gender barriers and get more women into gaming.

I think in Jade's interview she mentioned more games starring women. Beyond Good and Evil 2 is around the corner.

I think From dust is actually the game that they said would be drm free and actually had drm, which is a big no no but there's positive things about the company too.
