New details were revealed today about the upcoming Wii version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sand title. Ubisoft promises to "push the console to its full graphical capabilities" and provide a "smooth, clear and impressive graphical experience on Wii." Of course, the Wii's motion controls will be utilized as well.

On top of the promised impressive graphics, Ubisoft is creating a different storyline for the Wii version of Prince of Persia. The Wii version sends the Prince to a mysterious realm where he must use his agility, sword, and magic to survive. Meanwhile, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game follow the Prince on a visit to his brother's kingdom where the royal palace is under siege from an army of Indian Zombies.

The Wii version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will arrive on May 18th, the same time as the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

Heh, I'd say more of an Original Xbox game but yeah...it's not going to push Uncharted 2 or Assassin's Creed or anything.

Still, for a Wii game that doesn't use stylized graphics, it looks pretty decent.

No, seriously, it looks like the Gamecube graphics from Warrior Within with just a hint of Two Thrones' lighter/sharper textures.

Yeah, that's why I said Xbox game. The textures are sharper and the lighting is better than any of the Gamecube PoP games.

Still, it's funny to hear a publisher say they are going to "push" the Wii graphics. It's not really a bullet point to push because:

A) By all rights, they should have been pushing the Wii graphics from day one.
B) No matter how far your "push" the graphics it's going to pale in comparison to the other consoles so why even bother bringing it up?

Indian Zombies? Seriously... :/

I wish they wouldn't resurrect the trilogy. I enjoyed the newest game very very much (X360) and would love to see a continuation of that story.

And if those screens are pushing the Wii to its limits, then ouch... Those look terrible by today's standards, even compared to early Xbox or PS3 games... A PC is science-fiction compared to that.

Saying they are terrible is close to hyperbole. They may not be the equivalent to the HD consoles, but they look fine to me. Can't really comment until I see it in action I suppose.

Ew... I wish they'd go back to the old formula. The new one was coolish looking, but it was very boring 1 on 1 fighting, and the platforming mechanics weren't that great. I want the awesome combo fighting of the originals back.
