I hear a lot of good things about Ubiquiti's APs, but I was wondering how the EnGenius EAP 1200H compares to Ubiquiti's UAP-AC-LR. I wanted something with decent range and the EnGenius EAP 1200H seems to offer similar performance to Ubiquiti's LR AP at about the same price. The reason why I considered something other than Ubiquiti was because of a review I read where the reviewer indicated the bandwidth was reduced when you had multiple SSIDs. An Ubiquiti rep did indicate they were working on a fix for it, however. Here is the link to the review:

I don't intend on deploying the AP in a company, just to get the signal from the back end of a house all the way to the front.

So, these are the notable differences to me between the UAP-AC-LR and the EAP1200H.

Antennas:
UAP-AC-LR: 1 dual band, tri polarity 2.4 GHz 3 dBi, 5 GHz 6 dBi
EAP1200H: 2 - 2.4 GHz 5 dBi, 2 - 5 GHz 5 dBi

Max Transmit Power:
UAP-AC-LR: 2.4 GHz - 24 dBm / 5 GHz - 22 dBm
EAP1200h: 2.4 GHz - 26 dBm / 5 GHz - 26 dBm

Radio Chains
UAP-AC-LR: 2.4 GHz - 3x3 / 5 GHz - 2x2
EAP1200H: 2x2

Max Concurrent Clients:
UAP-AC-LR: 200
EAP1200H: 50

Onto the questions.

Should the EnGenius have better range at 2.4 GHz since it has a higher dBi antenna and transmit power, but the UAP-AC-LR would have better throughput since it has a 3x3 setup?

At 5 GHz, the UAP-AC-LR has the better dBi on the antenna but less transmit power than the EAP1200H, so would they be close on max range performance?

Is a single dual band antenna as effective as multiple single band antennas?

Also, since both units have integrated antennas, is it better to mount the AP vertically on a wall or horizontally on the ceiling?
