Yea, read the subject. I was browsing around uBID, and they had some pretty good deals on electronics. While some of them are refurbished they are signficiantly less expensive. What do you guys think? What are some of your opinions? i've never used uBid before

1) Ubid Customer (dis)service is a nightmare.
2) Ubid extends auctions until they make their preffered bid. There is NO absolute final end to an auction. If they don't like the final bids that are in, they extend it... and again and again.
3) Shipping is very high many times.
4) They do not guarantee the items are even really there to sell. If you manage to find a good deal, often the seller retracts saying they don't have that many, etc.

that just happened to me... i won the bid for a nice Bulova ladies watch. i waited for the "credit card processing" for 2 days and they just sent me an email saying they didn't have the item and offered to replace it with a higher value item: an Invicta watch. what is Invicta? i've never heard of that brand. naturally, i cancelled my order and they promised to send me a $5 coupon.

what a cheap scam.

i must be the only one that had a great experience with ubid - i scored for less than $90 a pair of sennheiser headphones that usually list at $150 or so. they were refurbished, yeah, but they came in sennheiser factory packaging and seemed like new. they came just a few days after the auction was over, too. it was a great deal/experience for me, but clearly mileage varies with ubid.
