I was clearing my favorite links and happened to find this link.
I know someone must posted this before and I may get this from this board:)
So I post it again only meaning to remind those who need it.
Link

Note:
The rebate is valid for your first purchase, which must be made between 7/18/01 and 12/10/01.:)

I would have liked to have this rebate about three weeks ago since I bought something from Ubid then, but I am now so mad at them they would have to pay me to take some of their stuff. I bought 2 Orinoco Gold USB clients and they shipped them, supposedly. I then got a message saying that they had accidentally double shipped my order and wanted me to return two. I finally received the shipment of one only, instead of the two I purchased, and then received a call that Fed Ex was coming to pick up the extra two units. I am still waiting for my second to arrive and had to convince Fed Ex they never delivered two, not to speak of four. Meantime, I have written Ubid many, many email messages to straighten the deal out and all they ever send back is an automated response that has nothing to do with the order. If you try calling, the computer you reach will tell you that there will be an hour's wait to talk to a human. Best of luck in taking advantage of the rebate and you'll need all that and more should you have to contact them for any reason. Bekker

I've bought quite a few items at Ubid, and haven't had a problem, except a couple years ago when they ran the easter egg contest where I won a $150 watch for $9. They said they where out of stock, so they couldn't ship it to me. :frown:

After getting the run-around for 2 months I finally found a manager's email address & sent him a threatening letter explaining that this was a "Contest Prize" not just an auction I had won, and how the state of California is not very nice to companys that don't deliver on contest prizes, and that if I didn't hear back from him I was forwarding all this info to the State DA.

A few days later I got a phone call & a big apology, and they shipped the watch right out. Even dropped the $9 charge. :D

I even find stuff I can resell on Ebay at a profit sometimes, that is if there aren't to many crazy peope bidding the price up past retail. :disgust:

Watch the shipping charges at ubid, not only are they outrageous, they are lies. They usually charge you a base price depending on the priority (overnight ~$20 or ground ~$3) plus 99 cents/lb on top of that. Well, their weights are almost always high. For example, I just bought a bunch of loud panel speakers from a no-reserve auction which listed the unit weight as 48 lbs - funny thing is that the same exact product when listed with a reserve is only 44 lbs and this is consistent across multiple auctions. When I received the units, they were only 39 lbs according to the fedex sticker on the box. So, I camped out on the 800 number for an hour and finally got ahold of someone who was very nice and immediately credited me the difference, but I did have to wait an hour on the phone (at least it wasn't a toll call).

ps, the loud panel speakers are way cool - not audiophile but pretty decent regardless.

I gotta chime in here and join the "I hate uBid and will never deal with them again" crowd.
My first order from them went without a hitch, but the next one... oh Nellie!!!!
Finally got it settled by disputing the charges with my bank.

Hey JahWren, those loudpanels are nice... I recently got a pair for my rear speakers and they work great in that set-up, with Modus One.Six for the fronts and a Modus Music center channel. How much did you get them for if you don't mind me asking...

$39 + shipping per pair, I bought 4 pair but 2 of the 8 speakers were DOA and they did not come with a packing slip, which I am still trying to get ubid to send me so I can make a warranty claim.

Stay away from Bid Butler it is a complete scam. As soon as you place a proxy bid somebody bids you to your top bid and then dissapears. It might not seem so bad if there were not 5 other of the exact same item for the mystery bidder to bid on for a cheaper price.

On another note I received my $20 rebate very fast. Also when I had to return an Ipaq there were no hassels except they would not exchange the item so I had to bid again.

But they do not answer emails and they make you feel like everything is your fault.

Ubid = a bunch of shady trolls

UBid operates at 2 hairs above the law.
Good luck if you have a problem or need customer service.
My advice is to read the terms of the auction very carefully before dealing with them. (Just remember, according to their terms, they can show a picture a 2002 model and ship you an unused 1993).
Further, they depend on the fact that very few people want to hire an attorney to get them to honor the terms of their auctions.
Beware!

I agree on the high shipping charges. I bought some Slot A Athlon CPU's and they said they where 2 pounds each. When I re-sold them on Ebay, the shipping weight was only 8 oz.

Still, if the price is low enough, it can still be a good deal even with the high shipping.

Yes, Shipping fee is high at UBid.
And even worse, I won an order on Nov.16, and It is still "at supplier's warehouse"!
I emailed them but got no reply yet!
I called them but gave up after waiting for 50 minutes.
What should I do now?
