There's an auction that was supposed to end at 3 today, but they pushed it back to the 25th, apparently because it was a no reserve auction and the bids were rather low. Isn't this illegal?

I don't know if it's illegal. They probably have something regarding it in their policies, but it's not good business practice.

They've pulled that sort of stunt for years- I once was a "winning" bidder on a 19" monitor (as I recall, $85) at the end of the auction- no mention of a reserve bid, etc. It stayed open until the price went over $125- about 3 hrs after it "closed".
I don't bother to go there anymore

That sounds like a serious scam.

But, if you rummage through their policies, they probably "reserve the right" to do pretty much anything they want. :(

I had the same thing happen to me when I bought a SCSI drive at Onsale... Won a 9GB Ultrastar for like $129 (back when it was worth twice that at least), but the auction never closed!!! It turns out that per the Onsale rules, the auction would close at either a) the preset time or b) When there had been no bidding activity for 5 minutes. Problem with that was all the people using autobidders... One would raise the price, and immediately someone else would counter. Instant endless loop. ARGH! I ended up paying $250 for the drive... :| And this was after they had already restarted the auction once, because some moron bid for all 1500 drives in the auction! Needless to say, I never went back there again....

I got a good deal on my Sony E500 last May at Ubid.. About $150 less than the going prices on PriceWatch or MySimon.
