Uber TF2 update today

TF2 is proving to be a showcase for Valve innovation. The new Video capture ability and these new updates and everything basically being free or obtainable with trades... I'm not sure what people don't like about a good game of TF2. It's just fun. Though the right servers matter.
 
I will never understand how people can bitch and moan so much about the updates. New weapons? CAN'T PLAY ANYMORE! New maps? NO SIR DO NOT WANT! Decorate items such as hats? CRAZY I CAN'T DEAL WITH IT!!!

And FF always has been and always will be a failed project. It only got released because TF2 was coming out. It should have been aborted. TFC is far superior to FF if you want that "classic" game play.

I'm not bitching about it free updates and stuff. I am simply stating I do not like it. It has changed the game imo for the worst. If you think it has made it better, more power too you. I think it is awesome that Valve is continuing support for the game, but hey the game is soo damn different from what it originally was now, you can't be surprised that some people just don't like now.

If you don't like the updates then you never really liked the game (and that's fine) because the core game has not changed, unless of course you count the new modes like KOTH and arena, but you can pick what you want to play.
 
Yes, it has changed. It wa better before the new weapons.

New weapons doesn't change the game.

It's still the same 9 classes. You still capture the flag in CTF maps. You still capture points or push the cart on others. New weapons do not change the game.

I did like the game, otherwise I wouldn't have spent almost 200 hours playing it. The game has changed whether you want to believe so or not.

The weapons have definitely changed, maps have been tweaked/added, but no, the core of the game is still the same.
The new weapons are not complex, nor are they necessary to use/acquire. Same with the hats. Why cry about the hats - 99% of the time they are just for decoration.
 
Nice update, I'll play it a bit, but I don't play TF2 as much as I used to, I still like it though, it's alright.
 
Awesome game, loved it for awhile, but I just don't have time to keep playing to keep up with it when there are so many other games I want to play as well.

It's the same game and you can still use the old weapons, they did not remove them. I still use a lot of the original weapons, but I also use some new ones.

As for other stuff, just don't use it if you don't want to; I don't trade or craft, I just play the game and leave all that other crap to people that want to do it. It does not impact my enjoyment of the game at all; you are not forced to do any of that stuff.

If you do not like the game, then you do not like the game, but to say it was ruined by these additions really makes no sense as the core of the game has not changed.

I disagree. The fundamental ideas remain, but the implementation has become more complex, and I believe it has not been improved by it.

I'm not sure what people don't like about a good game of TF2. It's just fun.

There are tons of stuff that I do not like about tf2, and its not just the updates.

For one example, the game is overly balanced. Team Fortress is NOT supposed to be balanced. People are suppose to have to work together, and the teamwork balances the game.

How much damage does a scout do with each hit of his bat? I think its enough to kill the HW guy in 2 hits. That is a little over balanced. Instead of needing help to take out a HW, the scout just circle strafes and hits the HW guy twice.
 
Anytime a game starts to add fluff to it, it starts to make people stop playing it, or stop playing it as much. Sure you can say its free, but so is extra sprinkles on ice cream to jazz it up but its disgusting tasting.

How is anything at all complex about the game? You pick a class to best support your team and try to win.
What do you like, games where everyone is exactly the same with the same 5 weapons and no variety?

New weapons do alter the game in that the "traditional" roles of each class are modified slightly. For some, this is much more pronounced than others. IE. The spies various cloaking devices act very different and might be a harder adjustment than say the soldier's various rocket launchers.

That being said, I agree it doesn't change the core gameplay very much and it doesn't take more than a few minutes of reading to familiarize yourself with the different items' effects.

That's pretty much incorrect.
You do have to work as a team to win. I've played on "stacked" teams full of excellent players who just can't pull a win because they can't work together and play appropriate classes to support each other.
And a scout cannot kill a heavy in 2 hits with the bat. An unbuffed heavy has 300HP, the the bat does 35 dmg per hit, or 105dmg if it is a crit, and you'd have to be very lucky to get 2 crits in one moment with the bat.

Even then it's not a requirement to use or acquire the new weapons. For the most part I still use the original weapons.

Sorry, I meant the spy weapons as an example of not intuitive to pick up on the changes, not necessarily role changing. Role changing is more along the lines of The Sandman, Jarate, Buff Banner, etc which changes classes into more team support than they originally were.

If you want to look at the sniper, the huntsman and jarate are options for players who want to be more aggressive with the class. But no one is making you use them. If you still want to sit in the back with a sniper rifle and smg, that's up to you. Or you can switch back and forth from bow to rifle depending on the situation. It's basic strategy, it's not complex, and it doesn't really change the game.
