I think you should remove the "case window" and "lit up" questions - those are entirely cosmetic and really have no bearing on anything but personal taste.

I also think the GPU interface question could be pulled. I mean, seriously, if we're discussing "Uber" systems and someone responds AGP or PCI - they don't qualify to take the poll.

EDIT: After looking back at previous results, this is really a pretty cool poll. In 2005 AMD ruled the CPU market (80% among the geeks here) but things really switched quickly once Intel launched C2D. System memory & HDD space have gone up drastically over the last three years.

OK - I removed "case window" and "lit up" polls. GPU interface will stay.

Denithor, I think the idea is that the poll is uber, not necessarily the systems.

BTW, where are you from Rebel? I noticed the ,'s instead of .'s to mark decimals.

I would urge negative posters to cool it down.

There is No Negative, or content that should offend any one in such a poll.

The Topic is easy to see, so if One does not like it ignore it.

If No one is interested it would die on it own.

We have a very diverse population on this Forums and if some find the result of such poll interesting let it be.

I am from Czech Republic (EU) - when I post here or at hardforum I usually use .'s to mark decimals but sometimes I forget about this :)

Interesting.:light:

Thus far with 52 votes the outcome is what I would guess giving the nature of the members here.

The only surprise to me was that 30% have Hard Drive less than 500GB.

Probably a result of years of wasting money on Raptors.

"Macho Geeks" should have by Now 1TB. :p

Not necessarily. I only have just over 500GB in my "main" system, as specified by the poll.
However, I also have a couple TB of available storage on my network. :p

I'm surprised at how many categories I fall into the dominant vote group. Some of them I'm on the lower end of the spectrum (Half my drives are still IDE and stuff), but based on the number of "OMGZorZ I have 10k EU and w4nt to build the SuperComputer!1!!!11!1!1!" posts I see I really feel better about my little system than I did before :)

A category for video card strength might also be good, but with the number of video cards out there it might be difficult. Maybe you could break the categories down like this:

High End/Newest Generation
Medium/Newest Generation
Low End/Newest generation
High End/Last Generation
Medium/Last Generation
Low End/Last generation
High End/Older
Medium/Older
Low End/Older

Just an idea. Great job on all you've done. Way too much scrolling for my tastes though... *grumble*grumble* stupid laptop touchpad =p

I'm one of those money-wasters!

I'm happy with my raptor X local - and have plenty of network storage for the bigger files.

The results of these polls are actually fairly interesting, when you look back over the previous years.

Mods - can we post a link to this poll in the other hardware forums (CPU/GPU/Storage/etc) to get responses from people who don't read the General Hardware forum?
