Took my 1st Uber ride. I had a $30 ride code from Chase. I used uberX and it was like $17.
After the drop off, I couldn't find an option to leave a tip on my
Credit card?

This is the thread I was looking for. I am about to take my first Uber on Saturday and I was confused about the whole tipping thing. First, Uber's app makes no means for tipping a good driver. The problem here is that I had to go to the bank and get cash out using the teller inside the bank. I rarely have cash on me and that is a problem for the necessity of cash-based tipping. Next is how much to tip. When I go to a hole in the wall restaurant (e.g. neighborhood Mexican) and the bill is $20 I always leave a minimum dollar amount as opposed to a minimum percentage. I never tip less than $6 at this place, which would be >25%.

But come Saturday I estimate the Uber fare will be about $25 and I am not sure really what the etiquette is here in order to be prepared for tipping. Even if I used Lyft which has an in-app tipping mechanism I still do not know what would be appropriate in a tip of said above example. Any feedback on good patron behavior would be appreciated.

i always use uber precisely because the CEO said no tips.
thus no tip line in uber app.

thus no need to tip!
I've never tipped uber.

don't be a feeble mind and feel the need to have to tip.
break that bad habit.
