U320 HD w/ U160 adapter

I have a LSI Logic 20160 U160 SCSI adapter. Also I have a U160 68pin cable.

My question is, would this work with a 68pin U320 hard drive? (at a slower speed)

Or are there differences, that my adapter wont recognize the HD?
 
Yes.

There will be no speed penalty if you're just running a single drive, fast hdds can do 70 maybe 80 MB/s, but u160 can do 160MB/s.
