Has anybody had them for gaming. Comcast is getting out of control expensive and U verse will give me much more for my money.
how is gaming with Uverse? I play a lot of COD/Netflix/Hulu Plus/Torrent so I need a solid connection. thanks for the opinions!

U-Verse has been excellent at my parent's house. No complains here.

I enjoy it, but you will experience lag if someone in your house is recording more than 2 HD channels.

I've had it for ~2 weeks is all, but it's been great. The only thing that MAY be an issue is that the U-verse modem/box thing is its own router included (at least it is for me). It works fine, but if you depend on a nice gaming router or something then it may not be as good. So far I've had both my consoles hard wired into it and use my PC via wifi and all do very well. Gaming, Netflix, etc all work as expected but no random outages that I had with comcast. I say do it.

I have 20 meg service from UVerse. It has worked flawlessly. I pass though their 2wire device and run everything from my own router.

sweet thanks for all the help guys I will be making the switch this week. Good bye comcast!!

what speed should I get? is 6mpbs good enough or do I need to get the 12? I heard that you get that speed all the time versus comcast's speed changing dependent on overall network usage.

If you have it coupled with TV and are watching multiple HD feeds, you will slow down. Be prepared also for your router/interface to flake out every once in awhile, necessitating a bounce. Our wifi also flakes out sometimes requiring a bounce. I finally ditched the TV but keep the internet part at 12 mb and am happy with the service.

I've tested my speed over the years and always found it as advertised.

I love U-verse but I never got my 24Mb/s down speed that I subscribed for, so I dropped it down to 12Mb/s. I may bump it up to 18Mb/s in the future though. The cool thing about the 24M plan is you get 3M up. I believe all the others plans are 1.5M up.

We have the fastest speed because my wife's work pays for it. But every time I tested it we were right in the range. It probably varies by location I'd guess.

Ours bounces randomly but I always find out it's because it auto-updates the damn firmware ... at 9pm ... while we're watching a show and recording one or two more! :(

I'm on the 12meg plan currently. I tried their TV service but my wife wasn't happy with it compared with DirecTV so we are staying with DirecTV...though I want to drop that too.

Anyways, I don't care for their router as the 2wire's interface sucks for trying to set up portfowarding, etc. Connection wise it has been solid though.

how do you have this set up? I for the life of me could not do this. I have my own router, and just want to use their all in one as a modem/hooked up to 2 tvs. Did you have to do anything special to get it to work?

There's a configuration option for using your own router. You'll have to drill through the pages, as I'm at work and can't reference it for you. If I can remember when I get home, I'll look and post.

U-Verse is simply amazing, I'm on the plan where it's $45/month, and downloads cap out at about 1.5mb/sec, which is helluva plenty for me. I have not had to restart my modem in over a year and have not experience any down time. I watch netflix and game wirelessly on my PS3, and it's a charm, and my PC is hardwired. I couldn't be happier.

It's unfortunate about Comcast, because they suck in my area also.

How many TV's are there in your house? We have 4 and im constantly kicked off a TV because theres too many on. If your watching HD or recording anything its terrible.

That being said its not really a huge deal as i dont watch that much TV anyway. The internet is very fast, and when torrenting my connection doesn't really slow down. I think comcast was starting to throttle my download speed.

I actually do not use U-Verse TV, just internet. I am actually using Comcast for my cable TV, reason being is that it's free with my leasing contract. I have only 1 TV, and because it's free, I'm not complaining, but the Comcast cable service is horrible. As for what I said about U-Verse, it's strictly about their internet service, but as for TV service, I don't see it taking much work to beat Comcast.

U-verse doesn't get some channels that comcast does, like the Food Network. I wouldn't touch u-verse for TV.

Dude, do you have ANY idea what you're talking about? U-verse has FoodTV, hahaha - pretty much the only thing that you're missing is sports packages.

I could ask you the same thing... do you have any clue what you're talking about? FoodTV is NOT the food network. U-verse does NOT have the Food Network.

Honestly, I think this summer we are dropping our TV package. We simply do not watch tv anymore. The only reason I have tv service is for UFC PPV and you can get that on the internet now.

One thing I hate about comcast is that the lack of HD channels that they provide out of the basic package. You have to pay extra premiums for certain HD channels that I know a lot of other providers have in their basic line up. But that's neither here nor there since I don't watch that much TV anyways, and any shows that I really care for are on Netflix.
