U.S. veterans ask Bush to halt B.C.'s 'tribute to cowards'

Quote from comments on the article:

" shouldn't dignify redneck ire with a response, but isn't that stupid remark about "All the US has done for Canada," just so typical. What has the US done for us?

They were the last of the Allies to take part in the Second World War, proliferate their gun trade up here, rip us off on softwood timber, and then think they've done things for us? To us, is more to the point.

I came up here in the seventies, although I wasn't draftable, to get away from that evil war. I'm glad I did to this day. If this monument prevents visits from Yank rednecks, let's build more of them.

Liz"

ROFL.

I think they should leave it alone, but I guess they know that Canada is incredibly dependent on the US. A little bit of pressure from the US could go a long way.

sweet. shove it up the dumb redneck's a$$es 🙂

I propose they retaliate by building a statue of the Canadian Queen with a mustache (Hitler style). That would really rile up those pesky Canadians since the Queen is the physical manifestation of God to them.

It's part of CoW's continuing campaign to convince Canadains that we live in CoW's dreamworld where we Worship the Queen, die on the street while the Rich get Healthcare, and that Europe is in the clutches of the Fourth Reich. Ignore him, it's surprisingly easy to do so. 😉

I guess Canadians lack humor. It sort of makes sense since their best comedians have to leave Canada for the US in order to have significant success. It leaves a negative comedy aura in the country.

No monument to U.S. draft dodgers

NELSON, British Columbia, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- The city council in Nelson, British Columbia, has decided against funding a monument in honor of U.S. draft dodgers.

The council decided there will be no public money or public land for the monument unless it had broad public support in the community, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Wednesday.

The city said the planned monument would be a "misuse of public funds."

It's being Privately Funded.

so what?!?!?! i thought you ppl believed in F-R-E-E-D-O-M?!?!?!?!?

What in the last 4 years has transpired that would make you think Bush and Bush supporters believe strongly in freedom? They believe they know what's best, and I believe they have good motivations. But personal freedom has not been the highlight of the past 4 years.

Well let's see... you sit on the edge of the most powerful nation ever to grace the face of the earth so I would say we kept your backwood azzes rather safe by proxy, ehh. Name one industry beside besides maple syrup, fur trading, logging and please dont let us forget curling that is homegrown in Canada.

After all what is Canada famous for? NOTHING of any real significant value. No doubt about that ehh.

I mean how many of you canucks flock to the other side of the border for Higher paying jobs anyway?
A whole hell of a lot.

No doubt about that ehh.

Canada has the population of one of our 50 states, California. The United States is much superior economically and militarily to Canada.

Apparently, Canada is a good place to go for Americans looking for Liberty from unjust Laws and Government Actions.

Actually, not that many of us flock to the US. And this is despite the fact that most skilled workers would make much more money down there with lower taxes. I think that a big part of the reason we stay is that we have the impression that Canadians are a more respectful people.

What could give us that idea?
