It must be so sad to have all that bitterness and anger inside you. To live a life of disappointment with no apparent hope for improvemnet while we who have chosen a military path for any number of reasons have become successful.

The military, before I retired two years ago, gave me a purpose. I joined not to get rich and never had more than a few bucks to spare most month's. And still, I enjoyed every bit of it and would encourage anyone with the right reasons to do service for their country. Very few higher callings than the willingness to lay down one's life for the down trodden like you or the helpless, young and infirm.

blah blah blah, you sure bought into that crap didnt you? are you sure you actually served?

Sure don't talk like it.

Anyhow, enjoy pumping gas or being a min wage security guard, what most service members wind up with as careers in the real world. (that is if you are not homeless begging change with no legs)

22 years retired O4.

I only pump gas to fill up my 2 SUVs and boat.

Salary: Out of your league.

Other family members - Two NCO's (National Guard) one married both doing well in their chosen civilian careers. Better than I at their age. Good for them.

Hey, totally off topic. But since we're talking about the military... for a good laugh go to google and type in "french military victories" and hit the "i'm feeling lucky" button. Good laughs will ensue.

Note: Don't take this as anything other then a joke

In other words you are a "lifer" kissing ass becasue you are sucking up govt pension/retirement, good for you, you are still sucking off the systems teat.

Your opinion is pretty biased as you are collecting a fat taxpayer check to be so far out of "my league". ofc you have nothing to say but gushing things about your gravytrain.

Back to the topic:

Yes, I would agree it is consttutionally protected free speech. Certainly hateful. Should be answered though by those who have a different viewpoint.

Unfortunately, the hate-mongering crowd on the left would seem to be denigrating those who are conservatives from trying to reply. Little do some seem to realize that the purpose of the military is to defend those very freedoms they use to insult us and others.

And part of that defense is to deeny the ability of any enemy, foreign or domestic from being able to abrogate those very rights. Sometimes we cannot see far enough to realize that taking the fight to our enemies homeland will in the long run be the best means of ensuring the defense of our constitution.

well since you probably held the lighter, would you mind telling us what your message really was, and who the "mystery soldier" was supposed to represent?

No idea who they are, but when folks do stuff like this at protests is is usually against militarism, hence the uniform and my guess.
well you would certainly know... so this was just an effigy of every soldier on the planet?

ya.. right.

Ya know, you raise a good question. I assumed it was protesting the war in Iraq because PrevaricatorJohn is the OP. If it isn't, I'd take back my statement that I support "their message," but I still support their right to say it.

You had me until there. When invasion and conquest are viewed as the best way to protect your home, you have a very serious problem.

Wrong again. I cannot collect for many more years yet and then only at the reduced reservists rate, not the full rate since I completed 13 year active and the last 10 - in the reserves. Besides, in exchange for the possibility of dying for you, that seems a pretty reasonable payment.

nobody here has denied their right to do what they did... but we can't even get some of you to admit that their "method" was in poor taste.

there's a large difference between being un-PC and being just plain ignorant and disgusting.

And trust me, I'm the least PC guy I know! I have even written the outline for a book about PC being a root cause for the potential downfall of our society.

This incident has nothing to do with PC and everything to do with decent American values. I can see how that might confuse someone like you...

Did anyone say that what they did was illegal? No.

Did anyone advocate making it illegal? No.

Do you only criticize those things which are illegal? No.

Is this your new standard? You will now only criticize or condemn things that are illegal? Your response to this is just sad.
First, I support their Constitutionally protected right to say whatever they want to say, whether I like it or not. Second, I do NOT condemn them for anything. I agree with their message, and whether or not you approve of the aesthetics of how they present it, it got the attention they wanted, including yours.

You've got the same freedom to say you don't like it, and you did so you're even. That's the American way.

Now, had they burned an effigy of GWB, then I wouldn't care very much at all.. but a SOLDIER?! That's just plain sick and un-American.. Do they have the "right" to do so? Of course! but that doesnt make them any less despicable.

You are a pynofian sartumtive gafpocket whose unmackrious penjavaleva fisonates to multabrian nalpantoism.

I really don't see what the issue is here... who cares... It doesn't offend me... it doesn't make much sense to me either, but it doesn't offend me. So I find no reason to "condemn" a misguided burning of an effigy...

I'm offended... but so what? If I reacted strongly to all the BS that offends me, I'd probably blow my brains out. Or become a Liberal.

Actually I'm just amazed, reading through more of his fecal matter, that anyone still engages steeplerot in discussion.
