So we have Fallujah now. What did we win exactly besides a 96 million dollar bill for US tax payers ? Will we get more suicide bombers, car bombs, IED bombs, hit and run attacks etc..... like in Baghdad ? We beat off a skeleton crew in a conventional battle and now the real battle will start. Can we hold Fallujah and not allow it to rebel again ?? I highly doubt it IMHO. Ramadi, and Mosul and other Iraqis cities have proven that once our troops leave they again revert back to the hands of the insurgents. The real measure of success will not be realized untill several months if not years after our troops leave Fallujah.

Liberation ? Everyone left before the attack. Not much of a liberation when as soon as you turn your back the city's residents go back to supporting the insurgents. This is the 5th or 6th time we have "liberated"/entered Fallujah.

Good question. Remember last time we conquered the city? We pulled out and left it in the hands of Iraqi forces. That didn't work out too well. But how long can we be expected to stand there with our finger in the dike?

Apparently not this poor guy.

Guess they needed more terrorists to be in the city.

Like I said they left a skeleton crew to put up a fight. More then likely they'll slip back in and start a campaign of suicide bombings, hit and run attacks, set up IED bombs etc...... What did we win ?

Fallujah is a microcosm of the Bush administration's ill-planned, unprovoked Iraq invasion.

"Mission Accomplished" :roll:

You could also say it's a microcosm of this whole war.

Not much of a battle when they split town with most of their forces and only leave a few guys to fight it out.

Not possible and would require support from the Iraqi goverment which means it'll be leaked before we can gain any intel. You forget that the Iraqi insurgents have moles in the interm goverment. It'll be a waste of time and money too if they just start writing things down.

Maybe you should tell our guys in Falujah it hasn't been much of a battle. In fact, I want to be there when you do. :D

Well from what I have been reading from people posting here it was a "cake walk" and "So Kool dude, Wish I was there to gets some frags". Then again this has nothing to do with actually holding Fallujah. Besides to capture something when you have the technological edge and firepower edge is plain and simple but to hold it is a work of millitary genius. We've been going into Fallujah for a while now and have never held it once the residents get back. It seems the residents always head on over to the Islamic insurgents side for some strange reason.

here is a good algorithm:

while(moreHouses())
{
searchHouse()
if (!houseEmpty())
killEverything()
}

Well given that we already have stepped into a giant pile of camel turd in Iraq when everyone else told us not to and to watch our step. The only solution is to pull our feet out of it and to clean our shoes off and move on and be more wary about were we walk next time.

So, you think we should pack up and leave? Will the result be better than staying?

Why don't you pose that question to the numbskulls who got us into this mess?

I would suggest sending Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Perle, and the rest of the Bush administration over to Iraq to straighten it out themselves. Bring the troops home and let the useless scum that started this mess 'resolve the situation'.

That's the only way these chickenhawk war profiteers will ever learn to not send Americans off to war based on lies again.

No WMD's but we got Saddam....so "Mission Accomplish" right ? Staying means more of the same and more anger and resentment of foreign troops and more fuel for the Islamic fire that seems to be building in Iraq. You cannot not force Democracy or Western values onto a group of people who do not want it. I think someone once said that it would be easier to conquer the universe through force of arms then to try to change the minds of a group of people living in a small village.

Do you seriously think they will vote in someone who is pro-Israel, pro-America's interests and anti-Islamic or secular ?? Get real !! They'll vote on religion and morals. Come the elections when Iraqis vote in a pro-Islamic and pro-Iraqi leader as their president and it won't matter what we think. If we don't obey the election results it will not be pretty.
