EMP has always interested me so I would like to see how this works as an alternative to their radar and electruialc targets.

Yep, that would be interesting. Add a LOT more toxic waste to the dumps in China though.

He may be referring to the fact that EMP is produced with nuclear weapons. Although there are other non-nuclear ways to produce them, which is what would be used in Iraq, if they are used at all.

Edit: Never mind. He was talking about dead electronics.

Ummm, OK. What does an E-bomb do? It destroys electronic equipment. What if one was used around a bunch of computers? Take out 5000 computers, and they end up going to landfills in China... great!

1) Computers are not toxic waste.
2) Why would they go to china?

Actually computers can be toxic. They have some nasty heavy metals as well as other things in them. Not just computers, but the CRT's as well.

I just like how it is an alternative to having to bomb the hell out of some bunkers or radar site which Sadam has placed civilains around. Take for example the stupid human shields, we can still fry the power plant they are protecting and not have the human causulties.

1) yes they are(materials contained within computer components)
2) because that's where the U.S. and some other countries send them for disposal

Yeah, dude. I seem to remember my boss telling me one time that the average CRT has something like 7lbs of lead in it.

I have a suspicion we will be using e-bombs or what they keep referring to as microwave weapons early in this coming war. I was doing some reading the other day and ran across an article by some ex general stating that those weapons would be perfect to use in the Iraqi oilfields to make sure they can't sabotage the oil wells.

They are already sabotaging the oil wells by removing the safety valves. BUt it is a good system for their underground bunkers and IMO the radar site that are near the civilian sites. PLus it can knock out their communication systems, which would just sestroy their whole defensive strategy.

Microwave weapons may also be used, they can disable any electronics devices they're aimed at.

In reality it is not a "for a couple of seconds" kinda thing it is a permanent kinda thing. But it doesn't seem to matter since we are just bombing the hell out of them anyway it seems.

EMP will not be used in a large scale attack on a city.
You have to realize that an EMP will fry everything including all hospital equipment if it was in the vacinity.
That would create a huge humanitarian crisis for a city if its hospital was rendered useless.

As others have said, electronic components are indeed toxic waste.
