U.S. election systems to be closely monitored

The aftermath of the 2000 race left many Americans with such deep misgivings about the voting process that they are determined to play a role in this year's election.

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, a 55-state group, has traditionally focused on monitoring elections in emerging democracies but sent teams to watch the U.S. system in 2002 and for California's gubernatorial recall election last year. One early conclusion: some international observers were shocked to find partisan elected officials in charge of voting.

Note: I find it shocking that states such as Florida have Republicans controlling the election process, especially after what happened in 2000. It's outrageous. We can only hope enough observers are in place to prevent widespread fraud.

I know I'm not real confident.

All of the cases of voter fraud and registration fraud and the whole Deibold involvement and corruption means unless someone wins by a solid 5-6% or more, the winner will be "tainted", imo.

I agree, whatever it takes to keep the democrats from committing voter fraud.
