With both parties usually controlling close to half of congress, the only way anything gets passed is if they give concessions to the other party. GWB only managed to get many of his initiatives passed by allowing add-ons for the Dems. The dems would fight the war spending bills, then all of a sudden change thier vote to yes... the devil being in the details, some pork project for thier home state or district to ensure they get re-elected next go around. Theres no telling wether they were actually against it from the beginning, then were bought off with pork, or were just holding out for pork from the get go.

A 3(or more) party system would allow more to get done with less pork.

That's why we need to restore Democratic control to the white house and congress.
We would have a balanced budget and have almost eliminated the debt by now had we continued on the Bill Clinton economic plan.
Bush and all of the idiot economists claimed that we had surpluses as far as the eye could see, and gave away trillions in tax breaks to the rich-who didn't need it.
Now we have deficits and debt, nearly ten trillion worth.

Notice that the rebate plan is only $150 billion dollars, including $50 billion in tax breaks for business. The rich people get a trillion dollar tax cut, and the middle class get $100 billion, yeah, that sounds fair.

As for the deficit estimate of $250 billion? Does this include the amount stolen from social security (excess contributions) ? I'm guessing the real number is closer to $400 billion.

I'm always amazed how the American people have gone from being spending hawks to blithely ignoring the absurd amount of useless spending, corruption, and waste that goes on in the government.

Fascinating how you concentrate on the $15 bil in pork in the $350 bil deficit.:Disgust;

Sure the $15 bil in pork should be cut, what about the other $335 bil in overspending? Most of it on the War Dept and the inane conflict in Iraq.

Supply side economics is having the same result as when Reagan thought he could lower deficits by cutting taxes. Didn't work then and isn't working now. It is the Rebublican wet dream, nothing more.

Need to restrain spending and have the taxes in place to pay for it like Clinton did.

Thanks Bush and Bushies for another $3.4 trillion in debt passed on to our kids.
