I remember when ps3 were first available people were joking about it being too high tech to export to China, or something about them buying a room full of ps3 to build a super computer.

now that the price is cheaper, i'm think about buy another one for my dad so he can have a blu-ray player.

I remember when someone did this with the first Xbox and made a Linux server cluster LOL. That is like giving the big FU to Microsoft. Not only are they cracking their product, but they're putting Linux on it.

They said the same thing about the PS2 and Iraq, IIRC. Who knows if it was true.

Are they really buying PS3 systems, complete with controller and drive? The article makes it sound like the air force will have a lot of spare blue ray drives laying around. Maybe they're just buying processors and boards?

The picture makes it look like they're using complete consoles, and why wouldn't they?

It's not like Sony sells the bare boards. I also doubt they're removing the blu-ray drives that would be pointless and time-consuming.

Hell, all they have to do is install their linux cluster environment, hook up an ethernet cable and run.

This is bad news for sony considering they lose money on each console they sell and only make it back with accesories/games.
