tyson is the best

I love Tyson just because of the ridiculousness of it all... I've had this quote from Tyson in my AIM profile for 3 years or so now I think...

"My power is discombobulatingly devastating. I could feel his muscle tissues collapse under my force. It's ludicrous these mortals even attempt to enter my realm." -- Mike Tyson

Even when I read it now, years later, it still makes me smile.

I guess people forget about Ali. Anyway. Ranking the best of all time is too hard. Even the best fighters could not overcome certain styles. Joe Frazier and Ken Norton would give Ali fits. Ali Beats up Foreman easily. It is all styles.

Tyson was awesome against Dead People, but mediocre with live bodies that fought back. He just simply could not take it when people took a fight to him like Holyfield did. Holyfield to me ranks as a better all time heavyweight than Tyson.

In his prime, Larry Holmes had the type of jab that could beat anyone past or present on a given night.

Does anyone else think Lennox Lewis was overrated? For some reason I always felt like he didn't deserve to be where he was but I never investigated enough to disprove that it wasn't just some kind of personal dislike of him than anything factual.

For some reason he really just annoyed me.

Lewis was somewhat of an enigma. Overall I think he was a good champion. He was hard to motivate though. Against mediocre competition, he fought mediocre. Against better competition though he could be devastating. He always looked sloppy in the ring as everyone tried to stay out of his power range and would hug and tie him up.

I give him credit for not ducking anyone. He was willing to fight anyone, but had to settle for a lot of lame ducks as so many avoided him for so long due to his sheer size and power. Tyson and Bowe avoided him like the plague. He was already curving down from his prime by the time he won the championship.

At least Foreman retired with dignity, then went off to sell his line of grills, which has been quite successful, and is now a household word. . 🙂

Which reminds me, tomorrow I am gonna break that baby out and cook me some food!

I always liked Foreman. He had Ernie Shavers type power but could deliver it with anything he threw. During his comeback he lost some speed, which was sad because he was slow even in his prime. He always made you watch though. He has so much natural power I still wonder why some fighters never got decapitated by him.

I can make a mean hamburger with the George Foreman grill.
And it wasn't the style that made Ali beat Foreman. It was the weird Shoko Zulu people placing crazy voodoo hexes on him.

hahahhah FTW! 😀

The best knockout era was the early 90's Middleweight division.

It had so many huge punchers, most notibly Gerald McClellan and Julian Jackson.

These two guys were so devastating and are considered pound for pound amoung the best punchers ever.

Here is a Gerald McClellan highlight video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dP0H1pHRmGc He steamrolled the division and finally got a shot at Jackson. After knocking out Jackson he fought Nigel Benn. Although he was knocking Benn around in and out of the ring, he suffered a brain bleed in the 10th and it was the end of his career, and sadly lost his eyesight. The guy was simply devastating.

Did tyson ever fight bob sapp?
No. This was a K-1 event with K-1 rules and that little b!tch's manager said he won't have his fighter being kicked in the leg. Sorry buddy, this ain't boxing. HOWEVER, I think he could have beaten Bob Sapp. Bob is EXTREMELY slow, and I think Tyson's speed would have overwhelmed Bob. Anyway, I would have loved to see Tyson fight Jerome LeBanner or Cro Cop in K-1 though. I would love to see someone kick the sh!t out of Tyson's head. :| That guy is a freakin' moron.
