Haven't lost yet. Average ~120wpm or so I think. When a typo occurs, I end up losing a lot of time because I've typed several words beyond the error. I'd rather the typo just slow your speed down or something.

Looks like I'm the only other one with Descartes on the front page.. last place though

There's no way its Descartes' keyboard that's giving him the edge, its his natural finger ability. I'm typing on some shitty laptop keyboard, I think his fingers would adjust on anything.

I'm on a laptop keyboard sitting on the couch. If anything, this is harder to type like this. I much prefer a full-size ergo keyboard.

Do you really have to rub it in Descartes? :(

And what flavor of crack are you on today?? ;)

68wpm. Not bad for an old geezer who's spent the past 30 years beating hell out of his hands by mechanic-ing, and originally learned to type on a manual typewriter!! Used to hit 55wpm back then.....now THAT was real typing!!

I have no idea how some of you type so fast. I can barely do 60 wpm. My fingers simply won't move fast enough to do 160 wpm like Descartes, let alone stream that info from my eyes to my fingers.

Basically your fingers are 1-2 words behind where your eyes are. You 'read ahead' and then type as you are reading the next couple of words. You get to the point where you no longer spell the words but you just say them in your head and your fingers just go to where the letters on the keyboard are as you sound the word out in your head.
