Bay Bridge out a week. Fine, need to make it safe.

But is it really necessary to have 5 CHP vehicles "escorting" traffic over the bridge after it opens? Are they afraid someone is going to drive over the side and into the Bay? Are they afraid someone might get lost?

Every time there's a minor accident the authorities end up blocking the bridge for hours. Rather than clean it up quickly they take their time "investigating" (actually standing around and chatting), when clearing the bridge for traffic would be the most efficient option.

I hear you. Even down here in SoCal, the CHP leaves smashed SUV's all over the freeway, while they measure off skid marks, or whatever the fsck they do after some soccer mom smashes her Escalade into some douchebag business twat on a cell phone in his beemer. And then the rest of us get to watch as they dick around for hours. Instead, they should have a rapid response tow truck that clears that crap off the road ASAP and then they can all conduct their business on the side of the road while we get on with our lives.
