Typical ADSL latency?

Hi Im just wondering what the typical latency of DSL is from the modem to the ISP. I had an AZTECH modem that gave me 60ms and I switched to USrobotics and now get 40ms. Why the difference? Is there any modem that would give me lesser than 40?
 
latency with respect to what? What website were you pinging? Keep in mind that your latency readings depend on a bunch of factors (the internet is a mesh of routers and other stuff) and you could get two very different readigns from the same site.

For the most part, sub 100ms pings are the norm, and 40ms sounds better than what most people get.
 
40ms to the ISP itself. Im from Karachi so pings to Europe are relatively high at 200ms and US aat 275ms. However, Ill be using Pakistani servers for my gaming.
