If a motherboard has the following specifications: 4 slots, maximum RAM = 8GB. Does this mean you can only buy the RAM with 2GB on each 4 X 2 = 8GB total, or you can use 4GB per RAM and put 2 of them to make 8GB?Thanks,
Number of Memory Slots 4×240pin Memory Standard
DDR3 1600/1333/1066/800 Maximum Memory Supported 8GB

8GB is the maximum memory capacity your mobo can only support.

e.g.

4 x 2GB using 4 slots = 8GB [within mobo specs] .... will work

2 x 4GB using 2 slots = 8GB [within mobo specs] .... will work

4 x 4GB using 4 slots = 16GB [not going to work] .... not in this lifetime
