Type problem with Photoshop CS

Just recently installed Photoshop CS and when I try to use the type tool to enter text, the text won't show. I tried various things nothing really fixed the problem. Was hoping someone knew the solution. Thanks for reading.
 
Make sure the layer with the text is above other layers. If that doesn't work, PM me and I will give you a user/pass to my FTP site if you wish to upload the PSD file for me to look at.
 
A while back while reading Adobe's forums, I seem to recal reading that this was a common problem for people who were using an illegitimate copy of PhotoshopCS.
