I am going to be building a new computer and I wanted to know what type of ram I need. I am thinking about the Abit KR7A and an AMD 1800-2000+ cpu.

Also wondering what would be a good company to order from and what is a good manufacturer.

Thanks!

That board takes DDR ram .. go to crucial.com they have good memory and they are generally very highly regarded around the forums here.

Crucial :)

EDIT.......

<< I should get the Non parity instead of ECC correct? >>

Depends, what are you using the rig for?

Crucial prices are pretty high right now. You can get Samsung or some other name cheaper right now I would bet. Not generic either. I think that for what you are doing ECC or Parity is not necessary. Good luck.

Actually Crucial came down $10 from yesterday when I checked a stick of PC2100 DDR. Hope this is a sign of things to come. From others statements (never had myself) Crucial is top notch.

Anyone recommend any other brands or places to buy from, crucial is pretty expensive. I checked samsung prices and they are alot better, but just wondering what would be a good place to get it from?

Also what would be a good fan/heatsink combo for a 1800+ so I could overclock it some (not sure on how well they can o/c)?

Cant help w/ the heast sink/fan question. But yes I also my go with samsung as well for the price. Look at googlegear or newegg for a great price on Samsung DDR RAM. Search the hot deals forum as well may find a great price there also.
