Just bought new E1705 Dell notebook. It has type three card slot. I use a Sony Ericsson GC82 card to get on the web. It won't fit, is there a adapter and which one if there is do I need ? Thanks in advance if someone can help

The TypeIII slot is supposed to hold any of the smaller types. I know of no adapters.

According to Dell specs, the e1705 does not have a PCMCIA card at all - it has an Express 54 slot.

And, if you want to stay with Cingular's EDGE system, you will probably have to spring for a new card. Dell has them.

Has Dell become the new Apple? Non-standard crap that only they sell?

Nah, if they wanted to be like apple, they would do that along with having 2X the price of what they charge now.
