Hamilton to Vuelta

Phonak leader Tyler Hamilton will contest this year's Vuelta a España, according to a Marca report. The American, fresh off a gold medal performance in the Olympic time trial, will look for grand tour success after a disappointing Tour de France derailed by injury. The Vuelta begins September 4 in León.

I predict asskicking. :D

Fausto - What's your average speed during a TT? What do you think your 10 mile time is?

I hope the race goes well for Tyler in the Vuelta - he is a strong rider but seems doomed to bad luck when the spotlight is on him. Hopefully the Phonak mechanic won't choose 19mm tires again if they have a wet TTT over cobblestones!

My last TT avg speed was about 23mph, but that was over a course with big rollers (like 1-2km each). Even the fastest pro didn't crack 26mph that day.

This weekend is a bit flatter (I think) so the times will be faster.

I put clip-ons on my Merckx and slammed the seat forward. I just don't TT enough to justify a dedicated bike.
