tycoon type games

which are is the best? I am talking about transport tycoon, rollercoaster tycoon, lemonade tycoon, etc.... for some reason i feel like playing one. I guess its an alternative to UT2k4 and WC3...

Same here. I could never get it to work in Windows XP though. They did release some sort of patch for it but it wouldn't work for me.
 
how old are these games? i've heard of rollercoaster tycoon and played it....awesome fun game. but i havent heard of the others u guys talk about. and transport tycoon doesnt work on XP? dang it must be pretty dated (doesnt mean its not fun still)
 
Oh how much time i spent in Rollercoaster Tycoon trying to please those blasted guests.... making sure they'd be routed to the correct lines, have their puked cleaned up, such a pain! The worst was when i custom built rollercoasters, but ran out of money half way through the construction 😱
 
Transport Tycoon works great in XP with the patch. I love that game! Plus, the patch adds a lot of new functionality which is awesome.
 
Rollercoaster Tycoon is awesome. Rollercoaster Tycoon II sucked. Rollercoaster Tycoon III looks awesome.

Railroad Tycoon is a classic. Awesome game. Railroad Tycoon II was alright, but too easy and short. Railroad Tycoon III was Ok, but difficult to control the interface.

Monopoly Tycoon was ok, then got repetitive.

Ski Resort Tycoon was alright especially the 1st person perspective when your skiing downhill.

Zoo Tycoon was boring, but my thought it was ok.

Golf Resort Tycoon was cool, lots of things to do, but once you got enough cash on your first course all of the other courses were available. Should have been harder to unlock other courses.

Industry Tyoon was ok if you have patience. Lots of numbers and micromanagement. Lot is based on location and transportation schedule. Industry Tycoon II is a lot of the same.

Need to check out Transport Tycoon Deluxe.


As you can see, I like the Tycoon games. I guess because I'm an accountant or something.
 
I think I read somewhere not too long ago that there's one in the works by Chris Sawyer. But really, what more could you add besides a bigger world and better competitors?

At any rate, I'm quite happy with the old one🙂

heh, I want to be an accountant and I love tycoon games as well. I don't really care about the creative side of the games, I just like watching the money come in. I must've missed golf resort tycoon, that sounds appealing to me since I like to golf. Time to go find a copy

Oops, I made a mistake, it was Sim Golf I was thinking of. Sid Meier designed it. It's still a Tycoon based game and pretty good.

Maybe they can extend the timeline too 🙂 I remember playing it until I built everything there was to build and I wanted more toys!

The in-game MIDI synthetizer music is still stuck to my head till now 😀
