I have a Tyan Trinity i875P (S5101) motherboard in my system.
When I researched this motherboard, prior to purchase, Tyan's web site for the bios revisions for this boad showed a bios revision that said that P4 Prescott support was added.
My motherboad had a more current bios revision that I soon updated to v1.11. Things were fine.
I recently flashed the bios to v1.12. I did this because v1.11 did not work with Tyan's motherboard monitor software ( under win xp sp2 ). At the same time, I downloaded, but did not install, the 2.24 verion of the monitor software.
When I flashed the bios th v1.12 and restarted my computer, the bios reported that my cpu was not suitable and the system shut down a few minutes later. Again, bios 1.11 was fine.
I temorarily put in an old Norwood P4 and flashed the bios to v1.11 and went back to my Prescott cpu.
I noted that on Tyan's web site that all reference to Prescott support in the list of bios revisons is now removed. Instead, the list says 'CPU microcode added' or 'CPU microcode revised'.
So, it seems to me that Tyan wants to pretend that there never was any bios revison that added Prescott support. Also, bios v1.12 disables a P4 Prescott system, by intent, it looks like.
Does anybody here have similar recollecion in regards to the Tyan Trinity i875P (S5101) motherboard and P4 Prescott support?
