Well I just got my first MP board running yesterday when my ram came in and I ran into a few problems. First one was that my Epox IDE raid card would keep the MB from powering up (what a pisser). That's fixed though I just gotta buy a different card now. Here's the problems I couldn't find anything about nor fix myself.

1 - Slave Drives won't recognize on the Primary and Secondary IDE channels. I've checked the jumpers ofcourse and cables connections and all, I know the cables work too but I can't get it to recognize either slave drive. Also got the IDE channels set for BOTH in the bios.
Noticed that ZIP drives won't be shown nor will REMOVABLE Slave drives on the Secondary channel. They are attached and work fine just not shown in the boot process.

2 - Can't boot from a CD-ROM, I have that set in the bios also to boot from a CD-ROM before the floppy and hard-drive. Can't get this going at all.
Fixed after a bios update! :)

3 - This isn't a problem really but just something I'm wondering about. My MB takes a long time to boot up. After the RAM test it'll sit there for awhile after recognizing the Primary and Secondary Master Drives then it'll say the Mouse Initialized and finally boot after that. Anyway to speed this process up? I'm guessing it's trying like hell to recognize the Slave drives and that's why it's taking so long. Any clues?
Fixed with the bios update.

Here's my machine specs:

(1) Tyan Tiger MPX S2466N - Now runs latest Beta BIOS (1.02d)
(2) AMD Athlon XP 1700+
(2) CoolerMaster DP5-6I31C-0C HSF
(1) Samsung 512MB PC2100 DDR Registered ECC
(1) Maxtor 30GB 7200rpm
(1) Lite-On 16x DVD-ROM
(1) Lite-On 24x12x40 CD/RW
(1) Antec SOHO 1040B w/ Lian-Li 400w PSU

Sorry, I can't answer your question, but I have a question for you. I'm planning on getting a MPX here pretty soon and I was wondering how your heatsinks are working and if how loud/and how easy to fit they were...also do you know anything about using non-ecc/non-registered ram in the board? I was told if you only use dimm slots 1/2 you dont have to have ecc/registered ram. Do you know if this is correct?

Well I'm using 2 XP1700+'s and I got 2 coolermaster DP5-6I31C-0C on there and they're low noise and work just great. As far as teh non-ecc ram goes I've heard the same thing. You can use non-ecc ram on the first 2 slots and only those 2. You'll have to turn the ecc off in the bios also just to make sure.

As for the problems I was having I got them all fixed in a bios update lol.
thanks

Oh if you're looking for a MPX board I'm gonna be selling mine I'll let it go for $170 shipped
in the us.

you can get first dibs on it before I actually post it in the buy/sale forums.

I have the same exact problem with my Tiger MP (S2460). Only happens when my Pioneer DVD drive is connected however. Disconnect it and it boots like it should. Strange.

How come you're selling it!!!!!!!!!

Well there's a few reasons really. This Epox Raid card I have doesn't work with it for one, so I'm stuck with only my HD, zip drive, dvd-rom, and cdrw. I have 3 other HDs to hook up and I don't have anywhere to attach them to lol.

All my problems are fixed, but if you didn't notice... I don't have a soundcard in there lol.
I've been using onboard sound with every board I've gotten because I'm not a big
sound'o'phile. So now I need that.

Also the USB is 1.1 not 2 and I just got a new USB2 drive :)

So I'm opping to find another dual mobo... WITH onboard sound and onboard raid just to make it VERY easy for me lol
