TYAN Tempest i5400PW (S5397) - SUPPORT SCSI ????

SAS is to SCSI as SATA is to IDE. So that's a No - but since the Cheetah series are available in SAS, you should go with the new technology anyhow. Otherwise, you're still free to plug a good performance U320 SCSI controller card into one of the PCI-X slots.

dual 771 w/ dual channel SCSI @ newegg
dual 771 w/ single channel SCSI @ newegg.

What other requirements do you have for your motherboard? Do you need PCIe or PCI-X slots? How many RAM slots? What about video--will you be using onboard? Also might want to metion what kind of budget you are working with.

This is of course if you NEED to have SCSI on the mobo. I'd get a SCSI adapter if you have to use that drive and get a dual 771 motherboard that supports the SCSI adapter that you select.

Hi, let me qualify myself, I have not purchased a new computer for four years, so I am behind in my knowledge. Are you advising me that SAS has now replaced SCSI as the better hard drive? If so, that is great to know !

What does SAS stand for and what is the difference between SCSI? Why is it better?

Serial Addressable SCSI. (SAS), I'm not google either, but rude is rude.
I'm looking at this mobo too. Instead of SCSI drives, I'm looking at adding an ARECO hardware based raid card and using SATA II aka SATA 300 drives to achieve the same result for less money. I already have a Qadro FX 4600 to put into it.
Just haven't seen any reivews other than a clueless user at newegg.
