I am new to ATI, I just replaced my TI4600 with a Tyan 9700Pro.
I did a complete reformat and reinstall, using DX9 and Catalyst3.1
I figure I must have done it correctly because I scored 4698 in 3dmark2003 and 15699 in 3dmark2001se.
However there are two annoying problems.
1. I seem to have developed a cold boot issue. Now my power supply is a PC Power and Cooling TurboCool 425W. I don't think they get much better than that. Could there be another issue at work here.
2. My mobo and vid card will not work in AGP8X mode. The video card does not initialize in 8X, but works perfectly in 4X. I sent Tyan an email indicating it is the bios problem. I have the most recent F3 bios. I know 8X doesn't make much of a difference, but darn it I paid for it and I want to run it if possible. My question is where does the root of the problem lie, the vid card or the mobo and what if any are the potential fixes.
I am going to complain to tyan about the situation to see if they will replace my card with a newer revision when they become available, since my card is probably an earlier revision?
I am running the setup in the sig and besides from the above problem and had none of these issues with the TI4600.
I have to do some more gaming to check stability and I want to have patience to make this thing work properly since I dropped some serious coin on it.
Thanks
