Renocide

Is anyone else running this set up? I ordered the Visiontek G3 only to find out that it wont run on my HP 8580C(I know I shouldnt have gotten the HP). So Im thinking about ordering the Tyan and Im hesitant about the Visiontek running on it.
Any help or info will be appriciated.

What CPU do you have? Have you thought about getting a 815EP board, the Tyan was good in its day but I would not buy it now considering other choices.

Asus makes a fine 815EP mb - the CUSL2-C. It's the most popular 815EP board around. It is for FCPGA (Flip Chips) only.

You have a slot one P3. The only mb I know of for that would be the Abit SH6. It is based on the Intel 815 chipset, and has onboard video and sound, however most folk bypass the onboard video and sound.

Renocide,

Your CPU now makes life interesting in finding a good slot one motherboard that will do the GF3 justice. In fact with a GF3 one would really want a faster cpu also. The ABit SH6 is the only 815 chipset based board. The rest of the boards still available will be based on the VIA 693, Intel 820, or the Intel BX chipset. I would go with a BX based chipset if you do not plan on upgrading the cpu. The Abit BE6-II v2, Soyo SY6BA+ IV or 100, and the MSI BX Master would be my first choices. The MSI and Soyo boards were excellent boards when I used them.

later....

Added the Asus P3BF and Intel SE440BX-2 to the list in the mb section.
