Tyan Radeon 9600PRO 128MB DVI/TV $138 at eWiz.com

thanks for the review link. The card looks good but just not enough better than the TI4200 to make me jump yet. I'll wait either for the next gen or for the top stuff to come down further. I want all 8 pixel pipelines, I don't want friends with 9500 pros out running me.

Checking the specifications on this card vs the retail ATI card and it looks pretty good.

Tyan RADEON 9600PRO 128MB DVI/TV AGP Video Card > $138.43

Specifications
  • Mfr Part Number: G9600 PRO-M
ATI RADEON 9600 PRO visual processing unit
Hardware monitoring and adjustable fan speeds
Advanced cooling system on the memory and VPU on both sides of the card
400MHz core speed with a 600 MHz DDR memory speed
    Microsoft DirectX 9.0 support
    Memory: 128 MB DDR
    Bus: AGP 8X/4X
    Connectors: TV-Out/DVI

And since most Retail ATI 9600 Pros are at $175.00 or higher makes this a warm deal.

anyone get one yet? I'm thinking of getting one for my xp1600+ machine since it only has a gf3 ti200. worth the upgrade?

I'd say it is worth the upgrade. . .

Ok, I got the worst so far.......im still running a GF2 MX200......and tell you what, it's still FINE for RPGs........and the occational FPS

Also, anyone else think the name "eWiz" is hilarious?.......

here's some more info on the 9600 pro with benchmarks

to continue with what farstar said, the ti4200 can be bought from eBay for 50-60, and the performance is close to the 9600 pro in most cases. of course, the 9600 is a dx9 card, while the ti4200 is not, so that's something to take into account.

In other words, it might be better just to save up for a 9700 Pro or 9800 NP?
