Tyan Motherboard with IDE cable

I bought a lot of Tyan motherboards and for some reason with the IDE cable include it isn't able to detect my ata100 drive. What could be causing it? Can an ATA33 cable cause a hard drive not to boot up if the controller is ata66?

if possible use 80-wire cables.

no .. unless the cable is defective .. why are you sure its the cable and not the drive/controller, have you used different cables that worked? ..

I used a cable from ASUS motherboard and it works. that is why.
