I have a Tyan trinity 400 S1854 with a code on it "99moab".
What I want to know is can I put a faster cpu on this board?
Currently, I have a 667mhz coppermine. I would like to go to a 933 or 1ghz. I have an email out to Tyan but know word yet. What would I have to change or adjust if I did upgrade? Thanks Jack

The Trinity 400 can take up to a 733MHz P3 in revisions "9900Y" or "9900YA". Revision "99PON" can take up to a 1GHz P3.
All other revisions including the "99MOAB" can take up to an 866MHz P3.

have you checked out on the this chart on the Tyan website? I think any trinity 400 will handle any PIII in the slot (the socket has some limitations). You may need to buy a flip-chip & slotkit (newer cCo's require more voltage & the Tyan BIOS does not allow you to adjust it there).

I have run a 933mhz on a slotkit (set at 1.75v) in a revision "a" board without a problem (this is one of the revision that does not support flip-chips in the s370 socket).

thanks guys, do you really think an upgrade to 866mhz from 667mhz will see a marked diff in performance?

You may be better off keeping the 667 & putting the $$$ into a better video card and/or more RAM. I built a system for a friend last year on this same Tyan board, with a P3 600eb, and a GeForce 256 SDR. There is still nothing on the market that his system won't handle. A new video card can be put in to a new system in the furure when you are ready for a full upgrade (new MB & CPU) to a P4 or 1.4GH+ athalon.

Thanks Birddog, that is what I was looking for. I am an upgrade hound and if I can wait on good advice , I will.
