Tyan K8S Pro (S2882-D) Dual core supported?

Hi All,

Just wondering if my dual cpu board (Tyan K8S Pro S2882-D) would be able to take two dual core AMD Opterons (such as the 285's) at the same time, or does it become limited to one dual core cpu at a time?

Cheers, and thank you 🙂

Hi nenforcer,

I caught my mistake in the title after I had posted the question. I have the KS8D Pro (I missed adding the 'D' after the '8') S2882-D.

Awesome! I was aware of supporting the Dual Core Opteron, but was unsure if it would support multiple Dual Core CPUs.

Thank you 🙂

But can win 7 ultimate use it? Can apps use it?

For motherboards with 2 or more physical CPU sockets, you need to use Windows XP Professional, Vista Ultimate, and Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate, I believe.

The entry level starter OS like XP Home and Windows 7 Home Basic and Windows 7 Home Premium only allow a single physical CPU socket (which can be any number of cores, however).

I am using this for my NASLite-M2 x64 system... The more the better as I really notice an improvement in transfer speeds having upgraded the NAS from a Intel PIII 600 MHz with 1.5GB of ram to this Dual CPU motherboard with 12GB of RAM.

Thank you all for your help and input 🙂
