Hi Y'all,

My latest project is an old TXpro chipset mobo. I have two problems: first, when the bios boot screen finishes checking the ram and hd, it all freezes. I need to get through this so I can try to flash the bios. Second, I'd like to install my Savage III 32mb video card, however this doesn't work. The S3 card says( in the manual) that it needs PCI2.1? I've heard this term thrown around quite a bit, but I'm not sure what it means. Can I update my PCI bus or something? Anyway, please help.

Thanks,
D

Identify further what board you have there. Count the PCI and ISA slots, DIMM and SIMM slots, see if there's onboard sound. That'll narrow it down to what it is exactly.

I'm personally using the first TXpro board model ever made, and over its long life has seen lots and lots of PCI cards - graphics, SCSI, TV, LAN, sound, you name it - and all of them worked just fine. (That also means I know my way around these boards very well :))

I always start with those boards by clearing the CMOS. I think it's J1 or something.
