I picked this up on the Steam sale and gave a it a shot over the weekend. I really can't nail down why, but it's pulled me in.

I really shouldn't like it. Some of the models are really bad. The (English) voice acting and translation is laughable - it's so bad in some spots I've had some difficulty following the story. The magic system is a little confusing. Calling the inventory annoying is overly generous.

For all that, I still do like it. The annoying magic system is super flexible, allowing you to create spells in a freeform way from components for what seems to be a gigantic number of spells - summoning, traps, bolts that can home, ricochet off stuff, spray, aoe, item enchanting, all wrapped into a single system.

I've gone the magic route but the melee and ranged (archery) combat system teasers they give you hint at fun systems in those as well.

it's a nice game. large open world but combat is quite easy. i just went with a dual-wield wizard, bomb enemies from afar and hack them to death when they get close, didn't bother with archery. upgrading is what got me hooked. i upgraded everything! and i did loads of side quests. towards the end it got a bit difficult but it's a fun game overall.

I thought it was pretty crappy especially the horse riding. The camera is what pissed me off the most I think.

The horse riding was indeed terrible. After my first few trips I refused to ride a horse anywhere unless it was an incredibly long distance.

I enjoyed it. Crafting items is fun and pretty deep, the story is ok, and combat is fun for the most part. I've been playing through the expansion and it's decent as well. Really no reason to not like the game if you're into Euro style RPGs.

Am I remembering this one correctly when I say that everything you killed came back as a PITA ghost? making it really hard to clear an area and keep it that way?

To be honest, I played a bunch of games like this recently and might have confused it with something else.

There's been one character who sort of came back so far, but otherwise I've seen no ghosts yet.

Must be a different game then. this was every single monster you face. Pretty much the countryside is mobbed with ghost monsters. So, sorry. Please ignore. I must be mistaken.

Actually I think that is the game. When you kill a wolf for example, it will often come back as a ghost at night time.

Two Worlds 2 is a decent game, but I strongly suggest Dragon Knight Saga. It's the better and more polished of the two.

I bought this for super cheap off Steam awhile back, I tried playing it recently and found the overall polish of the game so bad that it was actually offensive. Uninstalled right after completing the opening "jailbreak" level.

Haven't tried the second yet (bought it though on sale last week) - I felt the same way about the first- the polish was horrible but I really got in to it and had a lot of fun- hoping the same goes for the second.

It sounds wierd but I couldn't stand the game until I turned off HDR via the command line. Sometimes it's the little things.
