I have never heard of this series before - I just noticed it's got this sequel coming out Dec 1st and it seemed pretty interesting. From some descriptions it seems it's sort of like in the realm of Gothic or The Elder Scrolls - yes? Or is it more like Dragon Age?

Some previewers say its a big open world but I am wondering just how open- anything like Oblivion open? And is it only 3rd person or can I go into 1st person mode?

Any special features about this game that might set it apart?

hot forum has a long thread on this; the big downer is the world is not nearly as big or open as folks say but otherwise people seem a bit positive. There are numerous videos - it is third person (sort of like Venetica). It seems divinity 2; dragon knight has gotten the best reviews of the recent european games (the reviews for that game are quite good). Anyways back to your question it is closer to dungeon siege 2 (but more depth) than oblivion or gothic.

Arcania / Risen / Divinity Knight 2 style RPG and gameplay - seems to be the popular style of design for RPG's coming out of Europe. Not a bad thing at all - I enjoy this type of RPG - not too complex and not too much "hand holding" showing where you need to go.

Since this is/was released on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC - it's heavily consolized. :(

Biggest complaints about this game from reading the forums:

- Horrible voice acting
- Map isn't as open as the devs promised
- Devs stated 100+ hours of gameplay if you do every quest when in fact it only takes about 25 hours.
- Inventory system is horrible [icons are too large] - however, modding tools have been released and supposedly someone has already released a mod to improve inventory.

They have a contest running for free copies - involves cracking a code:

Contest ends Nov 30.. :)

People hated Two Worlds, but I liked it. So I will definitely check out Two Worlds 2.

I am playing Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga at the moment and it is good fun. It especially picks up once you get your Battle Tower. I'd recommend it for $40, although I think it will be on sale during Xmas

Two Worlds was not bad,it was a bit too big IMHO ,anyway I hear Two Worlds 2 has improved on the negatives things about the first one,I'll be buying it for sure.

Preview here http://brutalgamer.com/2010/01/17/two-worlds-ii-preview/ .

I very rarely say that a games sequel is a stellar improvement on the original, but this is the easiest time I’ll ever say it. Before playing Two Worlds II, I wasn’t in all honesty, that bothered about the game being released due to how much of a disaster Two Worlds (1) was, but Two Worlds II is now two hundred percent (sorry) on my radar and I’ll be watching everything that is released about the game like a hawk. If you played the first one, please don’t instantly ignore Two Worlds II because you know what the first one was like, it’s hard to believe it’s even the same game – you’re going to be shocked with what TopWare Interactive have managed to pull out of their magical little hat.
