Two WinXP Installs on same partition?

I have a lappy I got on temp lone from my office. It has some crucial apps on it that cannot be deleted, but the thing runs dogged slow, has all kinds of weird processes running in the background, and Sys Idle Process is rarley using more than 50% of he resource\s (a problem).

So my question is, as I cannot reformat the thing, can I install a second install of XP on the same partition?

Thanks,

Vince

P.S., the lappy may use a 1.8" drive, in which case I will swap the drive from my iPod (yes, i'm adventurous).

You CAN..... It might create more problems than it solves, though.

It will want to overwrite your current /documents and settings/ and /program files/, I believe......

just so long as u install in a dir other than WINDOWS. u do know u'll get new boot records etc. i'd make an image of the sucker before trying this experiment so if it gets fvcked u can get back.

some probs u might have is that c:\program files might get somewhat overwritten.

ok

if ima make an iamge, i might as well just reformat the HDD, and start from scratch, then just reimage back before i give the lappy back

I've also entertained the idea of installing to my ipod via firewire

or switching iPod hdd into lappy, but that invovles cracking open the pod.

Installing over firewire and then transferring the drive won't work. Windows will only work with the hard drive controller it was installed with.
