Two VISAs: One is a 3% back GM Card, other is $1 I spend, I get 1 cent back at Walmart, redeemable after $25.

One bank offers a 3% cash back on a GM vehicle. (If I spend about $300 on my VISA a month, that's like $10 a month for the car).

HBC is kind of like Target or Walmart in the States. Another offers HBC Points ($1 you spend = 1 point = 1 cent back to you, redeemable after $25 credit). If I spend about $300 a month, I get back $3.

Think I should do this one, or the GM car? I don't know if I'll end up buying GM, so it may not be worth it, but long term it does sound good. I would proably buy stuff from stores like Target/Walmart in the short term.

I don't carry a balance, and I hardly ever do.

The credit bureaus don't care they simply provide the info. Get the card you want.

What do you mean a better line? The best one is a line with a high credit that you have used and paid.

I hardly know a bank that uses AMEX (I'm in Canada).

Couple things to keep in mind:

1) With the GM card you have to buy a vehicle to take advantage of the rewards
2) Every vehicle has $ limit that you can't apply GM points past (Full List)

If you plan to buy a new GM vehicle & can live with the limitations, go for it.

To me the GM card would be useless.

i agree. I would get a airline card or something like that way before i got a automaker card.

Just get a discover card, or some other card that has a cash back program. That way you can spend it where ever you want.

get the chase perfect card. You get back 3% for gas and 1% for everything else. The money applies to your next statement instead of waiting to hit $25 and getting a check.

I actually don't live in the states, so I can't get a Chase card. Options are just a few federal banks available.
