two tv tuner card run simultaneously?

it apparently is possible if you use an aiw radeon 9700 with an ati tv wonder pci.

as far as i know, since each tuner would require an overlay surface in order to work, you would only be able to watch 1 of them at a time. for example, i cannot watch tv and play a dvd at the same time; i get an "overlay surface not available" message.

i could be wrong tho...

Go revisit anandtech's review on the AIW 9700pro...It does allow for two tv tuner cards but I think it did suggest the benfit was the ability to record something and still watch a different channel on the other card....In the article I think it may state the true working conditions of this better...

I use 2 tuner cards in my rig. AIW 9700 pro (NTSC tuner) and a MyHD HDTV card (has 2 tuners actually, both ATSC or NTSC). Yes, you can run both at the same time on the desktop. Different combinations of cards may not work together due to driver issues, OS support.

Your graphics card must support two "video overlay" windows when you want to watch both things at once.
