The Bermans married in 1992 in Miami. Mr Berman first filed for divorce in 2008 but the couple reconciled. Mrs Berman filed for divorced in August 2012 but the couple remained living under the same roof for a while.


Last year, Mrs Berman allegedly asked a judge to remove her husband from the home, according to the Palm Beach Post, because of 'extreme emotional abuse and fighting (verbal) in home'.

Berman, a prominent realtor in luxury homes, and his wife divorced in December. Mrs Berman claimed in court documents that she was struggling financially, taking 12-hour overnight shifts as a nurse to make ends meet.

I think nehalem is pointing out that in addition to being a terrible murderess, this lady may have been manipulative and had some unrealistic ideas about what sort of lifestyle she could continue to lead on her salary after divorce, perhaps.

It's a legitimate question. Where was her money going before it went to groceries? Was she having a hard time coming down from a previously posh lifestyle? Did she murder these kids as revenge for losing that lifestyle?

Heh.. I used to ask myself this question every day. I can't go into any detail, but during the housing bust, I worked for a bank doing loss mitigation for high profile borrowers who had defaulted on their mortgages. Kinda like these folks. The entitlement is insane. They have a lifestyle to which they have become accustomed.

Obviously she was also mentally unhinged, because the normal man or woman in that situation wouldn't even consider harming their children.

The mental problems she must have had would be the biggest factor.

But with that as a backdrop, what nehalem said is also the more immediate cause.

As a parent myself, I cannot imagine how a person could murder their own children.
As for what the father must be going through right now, I don't even want to think about it.

This is terrible, but I cannot help but feel like maybe the dad could have done more to prevent this. But i am speculating until we know more of the story.

It does no good at all to tell people they would rather die than face what they really feel. Nobody will credit the fact that these women killed their kids and die themselves rather than allow somebody else to abandon them unloved once again. They chose to punish the other, the husband, for doing to them what was done to them as children rather than relive and remember where that pain began. They wanted to make their spouses feel and pay for what they would not admit to themselves. We always create what we fear. If you feel you are worthless you will find a way to prove you are. Her egotistical hate for the other was so great she refused to bear her cross. Had she done so she would have been reborn. Nobody told her that her that she was ok and the problem was only in how she felt, not how she really was. She died absent understanding because we are all pretending that we are OK.
