Two routers in house

I have one router in my house but have dead spots in a bedroom. I've already moved the main router to a central part of the house by running ethernet in the walls. But I am still getting pretty spotty wifi in a bedroom. This bedroom in question has a ethernet port already wired up leading to my main switch. Which leads me to my question...

Is it possible to configure a 2nd router in a way that if you have already accessed the main router and you go in to this bedroom, your device will sense the stronger signal and switch over? What is this called? I want one SSID but two routers. Also would I have to go DD-WRT or tomato for this? Used tomato a lot but on my main router (ASUS RT-N16) I am currently going with their stock firmware which is pretty decent it seems.

I have some Asus RT-N10P's lying around... any advise would be appreciated!
