Two PS2 consoles head to head?

I've read that with the original (fat) PS2, you can connect them with the 1394 port for H2H gaming allowing a separate screen for each player, but since they removed that port on the slim models, can you connect them with the ethernet port? I can't find much info on that. If so, do you just need an ethernet (or x-over?) cable, with no other hardware?

Also, is there a way to connect a fat PS2 to a slim PS2?

You just need a crossover cable and a game that supports LAN. You can connect a fat PS2 to a slim with a network adapter.

Thanks a lot. Do you know of a list showing which game support LAN play?

Also, by network adapter, you mean the one Sony made that plugs into the back of the fat PS2? Which I guess they don't make anymore, but shouldn't be hard to find one used.?

Also, to hook to fat PS2's together, is it just a regular 1394 Firewire cable? There is no crossover firewire cable, is there?

It's very unlikely that you want to link two PS2s with IEEE1394. Most games support only the network adapter, not the IEEE1394 port.

Only notable games I can think of that only work with Firewire are Timesplitters (1) and GT3. Yeah, it's that old. They started integrating network adapter support in games around Tony Hawk 3.

Thanks. After seeing one of those network adapters go for $40+ on ebay, I was hoping to not have to get one. But if the IEEE1394 port is only supported by 2 games, I guess I'll have to.

Is there a list that shows what games support LAN play?
