Two Problems with A8N SLI Deluxe

I am having two problems with a system I built for a friend using the A8N SLI Deluxe:

1) Internet explorer will freeze if left idle for a short period of time, makes it virtually unusable.

2) USB devices need to be replugged every time the computer is restarted (they are not recognized on boot).

I've looked around the internet some, but I cant find definitive solutions to either of these problems. I am planning to try a reformat, and a clean install of the latest Nforce 4 drivers from Nvidia (updating the drivers normally did not seem to help). Any other suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

What bios are you using? Try flashing to 1004 released bios. Also check the voltage and timings on your ram to that specified by the manufacturer. This board tends to set voltage too low at default, and sometimes the timings too tight.

Update the bios before reinstalling Windows.

The usb issue sounds like a botched install of the os. If running WinXP, you need to have at the very least SP1 installed prior to installing the chipset drivers and usb drivers, where it's preffered to install WinXP+SP2, then the chipset drivers.

Running 1003 right now, but I will upgrade to 1004 when I have a chance.

I installed windows XP SP2 first, then the chipset drivers.
