The A's have learned that relief prospect Jairo Garcia is actually Santiago Casilla and is two years and 10 months older than believed.
"It's something we didn't know about, but he came forward with the information, so I commend him for that," GM Billy Beane said. Instead of turning 23 in March, Garcia will turn 26 in May, something that definitely has an effect on his status as a prospect. He still has plenty of stuff, but perhaps it's less likely that he'll refine his command to the point at which he'll contribute as a setup man. Jan. 27 - 2:19 pm et

Dan Haren is listed on the Dutch roster for the WBC, but he has no idea how he got there and he's certain he's not eligible.
He said his father is 100 percent Irish and his mother 100 percent Mexican. Haren is also listed on Team USA's roster for the event, but he doesn't plan to play for either country. "I don't want to have any excuses," Haren said. "I want to be as strong in August and September as I am at the start of the season." Jan. 27 - 2:13 pm et
